Trump says Rex Tillerson out as Secretary of State, replaced by Mike Pompeo

[Editor: Tillerson is a good man and very smart.  Unfortunately, he was not smart enough not to publicly go against Trump's policies.  Those conversations should stay close to the chest.]

President Trump on Tuesday unceremoniously fired his embattled top diplomat Rex Tillerson as secretary of state and said he would replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

The president announced his ousting of Tillerson on Twitter. Tillerson was unaware of the reason for being fired when Trump went public with the news, a State Department spokesman said.

“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State,” the president tweeted. “He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service!”

Speaking of Pompeo, Trump said: “Tremendous energy. Tremendous intellect. We're always on the same wave length. The relationship has always been very good. That's what I need as secretary of state."

There had been longstanding rumors throughout most of Tillerson's tenure of friction between Trump and him.

Tillerson had just returned from a shortened trip to Africa hours before Trump's announcement.

A senior White House official told Fox News the president decided to make the change ahead of his upcoming meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

“The president wanted to make sure to have his new team in place in advance of the upcoming talks with North Korea and various ongoing trade negotiations,” the adviser said.

Tillerson, the former chief executive of ExxonMobil, was tapped as Trump’s first secretary of state. But the two clashed over foreign policy strategies over the last year.

“I want to thank Rex Tillerson for his service,” Trump said in a statement. “A great deal has been accomplished over the last fourteen months, and I wish him and his family well.”

“We got along actually quite well but we disagreed on things,” Trump said of Tillerson. “When you look at the Iran deal, I think it's terrible. I guess he felt it was okay…So we were not really thinking the same.”

This move should only surprise the swamp.  Pres. Trump is only asking for people that will represent him.  As Sec of State, Attorney General (att:  AG Sessions!) or any other position to which he has asked people to accept in HIS government.  He wants people that will represent him.  After all, we elected him to RUN this country.  It appears very much to me that he is trying to represent us, the people who elected him.

Speaking of representation, we, that's you and I, elected people to represent us, the people, then they go to our legislature, and do their own thing.  For example, sitting on HB 2012, here in "our" legislature's rules committee.  This is a disgrace, and done by people that have ZERO intention of representing us.  In this case, we have a whole Rules committee, doing something other than representing we, the people, and in my not so humble opinion, if they cannot do as we have asked them to do, then we should set out to remove each and every member of this committee.  Not from the committee itself, but from the legislature altogether.  We can do that at the next election.  We SHOULD DO this at the next election!

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
