From the Governor

Gov. Ducey has gotten off to a pretty good start with his new proposed budget.  It remains to be seen whether it gets past in tact and can be funded.  It calls for NO NEW taxes.  All fingers crossed!

For the time being, it's too soon to take a position on Gov. Ducey.  Let's let him get his Governor's legs under himself for a while.  He is not as experienced in the workings of the Governor's office as past Governors we've had.  We are willing to give him a break... for a while.

Seems things did not go well at the Ted Nugent event.  He did  make the announcement but as someone said, "He said a lot of stuff" so it could have gotten lost in the chaos.  If you were there and you want to discuss with Christine, she has asked that you give her a call at 520-235-2234

Even though the event organizers approved their request, the parking lot has a separate operator.  Who knew?

As stated below, the organizers of the petition drive checked with the Secretary of States office and were told the "TP" would likely render the petitions INVALID.  We expect that URAPC is the last word on that topic since it is that group that filed the paperwork, consulted seven Constitution and Election attorneys and who will be the ones sued if this is not done by the book.  This is important to Arizona and Arizonans and is no time to play fast and loose with the rules.

Comment by Janelle Neil on July 13, 2013 at 2:16pm

I understand that another group added that TP, but in itself that doesn't invalidate the petition.  There are legitimate people collecting legitimate signatures on these petitions.  The only problem I can foresee would be that group going to the Secretary of State after the petitions have been submitted and withdrawing them after the fact.  Is there any indication that this is their plan?

Comment by Lynne Breyer on July 13, 2013 at 1:02pm

The problem with them is that a private group added the TP next to the file number.  This gives Brewer room for challenge.  The organizers have said countless times: They Are NOT valid.  We have to go with the organizers: URAPC as the only official source of information

I know legitimate, good people who are using the "TP" petitions.  I looked at them, and I can see no difference in them.  What, specifically, is the problem with them?

To Lynne:  OK.  I suspected you were somewhere out of this oppressive heat.  Enjoy the change.  Will catch up with you if you in fact have an extra.

Comment by Arizona Freedom Alliance on July 13, 2013 at 12:12pm

To Susan: yes, you are right.  That is why Linda offered to make the badges and I paid for them.  I might have a few extras and I may have yours but not in time for this weekend since I am in Show Low at their event today.

Robert: Linda should have the printouts.

Does anyone have the Black & White document of blank badges that can be printed out on a label and then used?

Comment by sleepergirl on July 13, 2013 at 11:07am

OK.  Thanks.  A badge makes it much easier to approach people in public places and at least "sets the table" for the signature collection.  Otherwise, coldly approaching people who may have no idea about any of this, one has to start on the other side of zero.
