PHX CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE UPON ADOPTING "SANCTUARY CITY" STATUS !!!
Since the election of President Donald Trump the “Sanctuary City” debate has heated up and has reared its ugly head in the City of Phoenix. A citizen petition was recently delivered requiring the PHX City Council to discuss and vote upon whether they will officially declare the City of Phoenix a "Sanctuary City".
A Sanctuary City is any municipality refusing to cooperate with Federal Immigration authorities to turn over Illegal Aliens who have committed further crimes so they may be incarcerated and/or deported by the Feds. These “criminal illegal aliens” most often times are released back into our communities by misguided Sanctuary City policy where they continue to prey upon the populace. Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton who has a sordid history of kissing up to the Illegal Immigrant population announced that he is opposed to Phoenix acquiring Sanctuary City status.
There are presently 4 City Council members who will more than likely vote "Yes" on this proposal (Pastor, Valenzuela, Nowakowski, Gallego) while 4 are against it (Waring, DiCiccio, Williams, Stark). This means that the deciding vote by Stanton will determine the outcome. Trusting that Greg Stanton will indeed follow through on his promise to oppose this measure is akin to playing Russian roulette with the safety of Phoenix residents.
As Federal law and State statute prohibit Sanctuary City practices, the odds are against this Mayor and his “progressive” collaborators in actually pulling this off. However, we must still remain skeptical and vigilant as we're dealing with some rather slippery public officials here.
A discussion and vote on this measure will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Formal Council Meeting which begins at 2:30 PM. Location will be at the City Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson ST, PHX, AZ. Public input is welcomed and everyone who wishes to speak will be allotted 2 minutes to do so. Please check the below listed web site for any updates.
