Its surprising how much you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit
We have long wondered what Pres. Obama would put in his "Presidential Library." He couldn't put in most documents because most of what was committed to paper in those long eight years was illegal subterfuge between the communists running the administration while Obama was on the golf course or on endless vacations. We doubt one could establish a "library" with a series of a few 1,000,000 emails outlining the attempt to convert America to a socialist, and then a communist, regime-led country. Perhaps you read the article that this library will contain only digital and electronic records, not the paper or printed documents themselves.
The Chicago Park District, the target of the lawsuit, claims such a grand "library" will bring in much needed jobs to Chicago's south side. That is a grandiose claim since most of the residents in that part of town usually work under cover of night.... using guns, knives, baseball bats, the usual weapons of crime. The crime rate on the south side is more than 700 times higher than on the north side and from 500-700 times higher than the downtown and central areas, according to The New Republic. Given that Chicago is a no gun zone except for criminals, one would have to wonder how such a "library" could overcome such dangerous statistics in order to get visitors, who cannot legally carry protection, to go there.
We were unsurprised to read that this zebra hasn't changed his stripes. He is hard at work figuring out how to soak the taxpayers of Chicago one more time. We doubt this will be the last time he will try such a maneuver. What we are surprised about is that he didn't attempt to put his "library" on the White House lawn.
Activists filed a federal lawsuit Monday to block construction of the Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s historic public parklands.
Protect Our Parks Inc. accused organizers of an “institutional bait and switch” by initially advertising the center as the 44th president’s official library.
“In August 2016, the City and the Park District publically announced that the Obama Presidential Library, promised to include all of the former President’s official records, would be built in Jackson Park,” the lawsuit reads. “Then, in May 2017, after the Defendants’ public announcement that a true ‘Presidential Library’ would be built, the Obamas did an about face on their commitment to a Presidential Library.”
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, also claims the transfer of public parklands to a private entity violates Park District Code.
“Defendants have chosen to deal with it in a classic Chicago political way, known as a short con shell game, a corrupt scheme to deceive and seemingly legitimize an illegal land grab, one that will endure for centuries to come, regardless of future changing public park needs and increasingly consequential environmental conditions,” the lawsuit reads.
It's a boondoggle alright.
Residents of the South side also view this as a backdoor attempt of gentrification.
It is an ugly architectural thing. Imagine a Presidential Library with no documents but for the O much of his life has been hidden.
I predict it will happen.
Made a mistake one time in an effort to avoid the turnpike, we were in a 40ft RV, and the route took us right through S. Chicago and that my friends was one of the most scary times we experienced on the rode. Locked the door and had the shot gun readied.
One can not think otherwise that a plan is underway to displace S. Chicago folks many good folk are living there although in danger of those who prey on them each and everyday now the community organiser poised as a predator.
Dang out right sad!
