Top Board of Education executive Christine Thompson leaving amid fight with Diane Douglas

The executive director of the Arizona Board of Education is resigning after months of conflict between the board and state schools chief Diane Douglas.

Christine Thompson's departure is "absolutely" prompted by the months of conflict with Douglas, board president Greg Miller said Friday.

"I don't think there any specific action that occurred. I just think she's reached that point where it's time to move on," Miller added.

Thompson and her deputy were fired by Douglas in February in a move Gov. Doug Ducey blocked.

Douglas then failed in an effort to get a judge to clarify her power over the board's executives and plans to appeal.

Douglas said she intended to fire Thompson if she prevailed. The Board of Education said it has hiring and firing power over its staff.

In her resignation letter, Thompson said her last day of work will be Nov. 6.

"I am committed to supporting the board and its staff during this transition in order to further the board's ongoing efforts to set policies that foster excellence in public education," Thompson added.

The Board of Education meets Tuesday afternoon to begin the process of finding Thompson's replacement.

Could this the beginning of the end for the establishment?  Oh how I wish that the heat of the will of the people is FINALLY beginning to take some hold of the hearts of the establishment elites.  One can only hope and pray.

"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." - Thomas Jefferson.

This hardly represents a loss - but the bigger question remains - WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES THE BOARD OF ED DO !!?

And secondly what "employees" could they possibly need to continue to do NOTHING ...???

"Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." - Sir Walter Scott (Marmion, 1808)

The Liberty to choose has been subjugated for the conquest of our minds BY educational bureaucrats. It is no longer the learning about our nations foundations and leaders, it is the REMOVAL of our morals, borders, culture, and language of America.  That is why school vouchers are so important to that Liberty of choice.

The soviet-style collectivism in education has removed critical thinking from the classrooms across America where most all follow the pied-piper of Obama where "the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can’t do to you. It says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.”

All should know this ...

Well said John!!!

And remember that it was Sen Kelli Ward who helped stab Douglas in the back and tried to get legislation through that would make the SPI simply a figurehead.  She and they claimed that is what Douglas asked for but more likely it's what they talked her into.  She made a big mistake by surrounding herself with Huppenthal's people and Ward was all too happy to help them neutralize Douglas.  Why the flakes all over FB are so gung ho (and even Breitbart which has gone downhill with some of their new contributors) Ward is because they have done no research on this woman.

So True!

The internet has all the information one needs ... for now .... since Obama tries to take control of all of it by his Marxist agenda of "net neutrality" and propaganda. Doing ones OWN investigative journalism is the Freedom & Liberty of "We the people".

"If everyone's thinking the same, then nobody's thinking" - Gen. George Patton.

I am so proud of Diane Douglas.  She has been a real tiger to get changes (supported by the voters) made in AZ schools.  Our governor did not support her at first, then decided he was also against CC, then appointed a school board against Diane Douglas, he has repeatedly tried to undercut DD at any opportunity.

Like the strong individual she is Diane has withstood much adversity and is ready to get positive things done.  She is the right person at the right time for AZ schools.  Perhaps we should consider a recall for the governor instead of the SPI.  Remember how she voted -- do not support Ward in any fashion.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson

The best in books to make every conservative start thinking in new ways about America and the world being controlled by the Obama Administrations AND Republicans and Democrats.  Some surprises are in store for those who look!

Suppose the earth and its inhabitants exist in order to identify just what causes mankind continually to suffer so many troublesome problems and afflictions.
