Today with the technological revolution the world seems smaller. Technology connects us to such far away places that everywhere seems to be local.  Even that which was outer space and distant is not so distant. With the International Space Station (ISS) and the sophisticated telescopes we are seeing light years become real years. We are not all that expansive -- Or are we?

Let me engage you with a thought experiment. Let your mind wrap around the fact that according to scientists there are between Two Hundred Billion to Two Trillion galaxies. Galaxy comes from the Greek word "galaxis" which means "milky" hence our galaxy is called the Milky Way. Each galaxy revolves around a large mass. This is a megastar we call the sun. Galaxies may be small and designated "dwarf" containing only a few billion stars. Other galaxies are larger containing one hundred trillion stars. They also often have a variety of "black hole."  One of ours is called Sagittarius.

If you are an astronomer you may ask -- where did all of that space come from? If you are a developer you may ask -- who owns it, what is it there for, and what is going to become of it?  If you work for the IRS you might be wondering how to tax the space!

The answer to these questions is provided for us in the Bible. Jesus is the creator of all the worlds. He is the inheritor of all things. He upholds all things by the word of His power. One day He will rule all lands and all space for all time, until time is forgotten. It will be called - "The Kingdom of God."

Hear the words of scripture:

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.  And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Heb. 1:1-3)

Look as far as you can out into the night sky... add the aid of a telescope and all you see is but a fraction of all that is there to see.  And all that is there is His. And the fact is that all of history looks to Him and all of the future belongs to Him.  Go as far back in time and He is the creator. Go as far into the future and He is there as the inheritor of all things. Jesus is the central fact of all history and prophecy. To Him all things look forward and backward.  All lines of history and heaven converge upon Him.

This is why if Shakespeare were to come into a room we would stand up in admiration. But if Jesus were to walk into the room we would bow down in adoration.  And so, one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

I suspect that is what church is for... to allow us to practice prostrating to the only true potentate.

Serving Him with you

Until He comes for us,

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

The best in books to make every conservative start thinking in new ways about America and the world being controlled by the Obama Administrations AND Republicans and Democrats.  Some surprises are in store for those who look!

Suppose the earth and its inhabitants exist in order to identify just what causes mankind continually to suffer so many troublesome problems and afflictions.
