EXCLUSIVE: Leaked Internal Arizona GOP Memo Raises Serious Concerns About 2020 —

.... Deputy Comms Director RESIGNS Over ‘Systematic Failures

Editor:  As a side note, AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines was served today with a lawsuit for defamation by Mark and Maria Syms.  Lines publicly claimed they had committed a crime for which they were convicted and ordered to pay $70,000.  This supposedly had something to do with signature gathering by Mark Syms for the 2018 primary.  This claim is entirely false and the judge in a case surrounding the signature gathering ruled Mark Syms was found innocent of all wrong doing. You may remember that Maria Syms was an incumbent candidate for the House in LD28 and Lines sent out a mailer to all Republican voters in that district with all candidates on it EXCEPT Maria Syms.  How foolish does this man have to get?  Rhetorical question!  Now is seems there is a whistleblower revealing the truth about the illegal shenanigans with the AZGOP money.  You may also remember that we were the first to reveal similar shenanigans by former Chairman Robert Graham for which the AZGOP has been fined by the FEC.  AZRA members dug up the info in 2015 and filed a claim with the FEC.

An Arizona Republican Party internal memo leaked to the Gateway Pundit raises serious concerns about unethical use of party resources and systematic failures that the Deputy Communications Director fears will lead to a loss in 2020.

The memo, sent by Deputy Communications Director Robert Maxwell to Executive Director Kyle Pierce on Wednesday, outlines failures that were observed in 2018 — such as resources being misappropriated for the benefit of Chairman Jonathan Lines’ reelection bid and Governor Doug Ducey using the party as his “personal political operation.”

The memo begins with Maxwell explaining how much he loves the party, the president, and Republican activists in the state. He said that because of that, he is “saddened to write this memo.”

“I have witnessed systemic failures within the Arizona Republican Party that not only led to the most significant Republican losses in a generation in 2018, but if allowed to persist will cost President Trump Arizona in 2020, thus costing him our electoral votes. President Trump should not be forced to worry about Arizona turning blue, yet if the AZGOP doesn’t do something to radically shake up its strategy that is exactly what will happen,” the memo says.

Maxwell goes on to list “just a few” of the issues he says he has personally witnessed that left him greatly concerned for the future of the state’s party. He alleges that “more often than not, both before and after the 2018 general election, the AZGOP office is entirely empty except for a single low level staffer or volunteer.”

More bad news for Jonathan Lines. As first reported by American Post-Gazette, yesterday, former State Representative Maria Syms and her doctor husband, Mark Syms, filed a defamation lawsuit against the embattled GOP State Chairman.

Also yesterday, here comes a leaked letter from State GOP Deputy Communications Director Robert Maxwell outlining the many reasons why he’s resigning, including witnessing “systemic failures within the Arizona Republican Party that . . . led to the most significant Republican losses in a generation in 2018 . . . “

American Post-Gazette has been posting column after column about the failure of leadership by Lines. Maxwell confirms those failures and the corruption.

Maxwell continues: “While I have tremendous respect for Governor Ducey . . . I do not believe that the AZGOP should have operated as his personal political operation, especially given that it did so at the detriment of other important Republican candidates like Martha McSally, Frank Riggs, Jill Norgaard, Frank Schmuck, and Steve Gaynor, among many others. (I would specifically note Maria Syms). The AZGOP, for whatever reason, failed to provide any substantive support to our top tier Republican candidates, which significantly contributed to their losses.”

Tough stuff coming from an AZGOP staffer with inside information on the workings of the Lines-led operation. An epic failure of leadership. Yet, Lines continues to claim 2018 was a victory.

Maxwell also revealed that Lines has been using AZGOP resources, including staff and paid consultants to run his re-election campaign. These party-funded resources have been and are being “misappropriated for the benefit of Chairman Lines’ reelection bid . . . On numerous occasions . . . AZGOP resources have been used to strategize and run his campaign. This is a blatant abuse and misuse of power and resources. The AZGOP headquarters has been turned into a de facto war room for Chairman Lines . . . “

It’s time for Lines to resign, yes, even before tomorrow’s State GOP Meeting. And it’s time for Lines to drop out of the race. He has demonstrated he is incapable of honest and credible leadership. As chairman, he has overseen the worst statewide Republican election losses in 30 years. He can’t be trusted to lead. He can’t be trusted to manage the office. He can’t be trusted with party resources.

If Lines is re-elected, more conservatives will leave the party and more precinct committeemen will stop working. That will lead to Arizona becoming a solid Blue State and the state and the nation could be lost to Socialist Democrats for generations--if not forever.

Lines should take a page out of Chris Red Herring’s book and not run for re-election. It would be the best legacy he could leave with.

Yours in Cause of Truth,

Alexander Hamilton

Someone sent out an email earlier today (Fri 1/25) disguising themselves as me, Samuel Adams, claiming to represent American Post-Gazette. From what we can tell, it was sent to the AZGOP email list.

It's not me.

The post blasts Dr. Kelli Ward, so it's an obvious Jonathan Lines' comrade who feels the heat of a Dr. Ward candidacy.

American Post-Gazette writers unanimously support Dr. Ward for GOP State Chair.

You can always tell when a post is legitimately from us. The return email address is azstatesmen@gmail.com. Also, at the bottom of the post next to "unsubscribe" will be your individual email address. (Not that we want any of you to unsubscribe; it's just that the notice is required.)

This was a desperate attempt to divide Dr. Ward's supporters. Don't fall for it. Mr. Lines needs to be replaced and Dr. Ward is the right person to lead the AZGOP to victory.

We are sorry Mr. Lines' supporters have to stoop so low, but it's not surprising.

For the Love of Life, Liberty, and Property,

Samuel Adams
