New wind blowing in the AZGOP race, Part II

A few days ago we gave you accurate information on the three candidates running for AZGOP chair. HERE Today, we are introducing Doyel Shamley. Doyel is known by one of our team and we think all State Committeemen should know about him, too. Many of the SCs said you don't want to vote for the three we posted about earlier this week. Shamley is a solid conservative and should be considered by those who get a vote on January 26.

Today, we are going to cover Doyel Shamley, the latest candidate for that seat. Many are looking at him strictly from a point of view that he's not one of the three. We hope State Committeemen will look at it from the standpoint of who he is, is he qualified, what he stands for, what he wants to do. Some say, oh, too bad he's running as a write-in. Well, the right person running as a write-in can win and it's been done. The last time was in 2011 when Tom Morrissey won after entering the race just days before the vote. That was then, this is now. But the same discontent with AZGOP was present then as it is today.

When we contacted Doyel Shamley, we asked how he intended to win. He had all the right answers: campaign hard, make necessary phone calls, put out his resume for all to see, organize volunteers at the meeting  and run on his qualifications. Sounds right to us.

Shamley ran for the LD7 House in 2018. That district is rural and mostly tribal. Shamley said he converted dozens and dozens of democrat tribal members to the GOP, saying they think like Republicans but have always voted democrat. Pity. Shamley lost that race. Since redistricting, no Republican has won there.  Shamley wants to change that.

What qualifies Shamley for this job? He has been elected to the Apache County Board of Supervisors and sits or has sat on many boards in the rural areas. He is a decorated combat veteran which shows devotion to nation. He's a lifetime member of AZCDL, a gun advocacy group protecting our 2^nd Amendment rights. He has been working with his County Attorney on election issues.  Constitutionalist. Patriot. We have attached several items that tell his story and we encourage you to open and see more of who he is.

What does he envision for AZGOP? First, he will be vocal on the border issues we face in this state. You might think, so what? The Chairman of AZGOP has access to movers and shakers in our state and around the country. Bringing strong views on Constitutional issues can only help our state. He sees how the EPA has negatively impacted our state and took action to mitigate the damage done by them. As Apache County Natural Resources Coordinator, Shamley advocated on behalf of continuing prescribed burns to keep our forests healthy and prevent devastating fires as we see in California and have seen in the White Mountains due to dangerous EPA policies. If you read some of the articles we included below, what you will find is that Shamley brings a common-sense approach to problems and solutions.

Where does Shamley stand on revising the AZGOP Bylaws which is in dire need of such amendments? He is for Bylaws that work for the organization, not only for the AZGOP board.  He will make that a priority.

Who would Shamley hire as Executive Director? The ED has a lot of power and runs day to day operations. They can lock the front door or open it to all. Shamley is not a “lock them out” kind of guy. His work history proves he knows how to manage issues and people. People skills are critical to this positition because there is no more diverse group on earth than politicos, especially Republican political wonks.  

When we asked a few questions about fundraising, proxies and the lousy AZGOP Bylaws, here are his answers:

Fundraising:

“The grassroots support for conservative candidates is large and ready to be unleashed, but has been quashed by the current leadership...we will unleash them as a force for fundraising.

Proxies:

"Proxies need to be eliminated...why elect precinct committeemen, SC's, etc. from particular interests and backgrounds and then allow whomever is cherry-picked by cronies to show up and vote in their stead."

Bylaws:

"Yes, the entire state office and operations, to include our AZGOP Bylaws, need to be amended.”

So, the only remaining question that needs an answered is, who will he hire to be the Executive Director? One thing is sure, it won't be Matt Kenney and it won't be McCain operative, Jon Seaton! When we asked him, his answer was, “I know for sure on staffing that I would be interviewing, with a critical eye, any remnants that are left in the office, and backfill with conservatives.”  He has a couple of people in mind and we approve of both of them.  You will, too. From what we now know about this man, whoever is hired will be due to careful and thoughtful consideration of candidates for the job.

I appreciate this kind of proper behavior from a candidate. It bodes well for a Chairman to be honest and forthright, something we won't get from any other candidate in this race.  This solidifies in my mind who should run the AZGOP for the next two years: Doyel Shamley  We are fortunate to have such a candidate and his credentials as laid out in this article are outstanding.

Activist Archie Dicksion: On Jan 26, 2019 the Republican Party of the State of Arizona will hold its statutory meeting for the election of officers and other business. On Jan 12, 2019 the Republican Party of Maricopa County held its statutory meeting and elected new officers for the coming two year term. There are 30 legislative districts in the State of Arizona. Of those 30 districts, all or a significant part of at least 20 are within Maricopa County. Thus, Maricopa County is the 800 pound gorilla in the State of Arizona for the control of the Republican Party. At the meeting on Jan 12, there were 779 precinct committeemen present and 602 were present by power of attorney (otherwise know as a proxy). Thus 43 percent of all votes cast were by people who were not present in person. I wonder just how many of those 602 people really had a legitimate reason for not being present in person. I submit that most of them had to drive less than 25 miles to the meeting site. In my humble opinion these people were either recruited with the knowledge that they would never attend a meeting or that they individually knew when they submitted their name for election that they would never appear at meetings and would never perform any work or the party. Why do we recruit people or allow people to continue to serve as PC’s when they fail to attend meetings or to work on behalf of the party? Perhaps that is why we are now a purple state. For those of you in outlying Legislative Districts, if you do not start to insist on changes to the Bylaws as it relates to voting of powers of attorney (proxies) you will forever be the dog that is being wagged its Maricopa County tail.

Comment:  Those voting on 1/26/2019 please do your homework, be informed and vote for a Patriot to defend America.  I supported Kelli Ward for both of her U.S. Senate races.  Today, if I could I would vote for Doyel Shamley as the next AZGOP Chairman.  Why?  I have done my due diligence.

Mr. Shamley says he waited to announce his intention to run for chairman after he was elected as a state committeeman? Do the AZGOP bylaws require chairman candidates to be first elected state committeemen? I very much doubt that is a requirement but will check with the state party on Monday. My vote is solid for Kelli Ward. No other candidate in this race has her real time experience after two Senatorial campaigns. No one can match her energy, her Trumpian ideas and her love of our state.

When I was young, I did so love to watch boxing matches.  I do feel in reading these comments, even on Part I, that I might be watching one again.  I must say I am not a state committeeman any more but I do so love political theater and this race for AZGOP is surely that.  It is a rare thing that the chairman of our party is a worthy person.  Oh, yes, we did have Mr. Tom Morrissey who was quite conservative and before him we had former Congressman Matt Salmon.  I do believe Dodie London was also mostly conservative but that was so long ago.  We have so much opportunity to get excellent information today that it puzzles me why SCs don't do more indepth research.  I did call my friend in the White Mountains to ascertain her information about Mr. Shamley.  She could not say enough good things about his character, ability to think through tough situations and his cool under stress.  And respectful, she told me, very respectful. I do so think these are the qualities needed to be a political group leader.   Oh, no, I do not see those qualities in any of the other candidates.  I truly hope he is the winner.  The GOP could surely use a mature leader.

While the carping is going on on Part I, I have been doing a little digging.  I did find that Shamley ran for the House as reported and lost in the general to two tribal members.  I did find that no republican has won a seat in that district since the redistricting.  I also found this article about a great thing he did by taking back control of the forest land in Apache county from the feds:

Doyel Shamley and others deserve credit for uncovering, studying, and acting upon information about federal jurisdiction. A resident of Apache County, Arizona, Shamley was able to get his county to pass two resolutions in which his county asserted its Constitutional right to start managing the forests in its area.

You have every right to expect your county representatives to take similar measure to protect you and your county’s rights and interests.

I guess that his loss informed him he had some work to do to gain trust of the Native community. He seems to have done that -- I'm still a sure vote for Kelli Ward. But thanks Jasper for the extra research.

Why did Mr. Shamley enter the race so late? He is running to be nominated from the floor. Could Chairman Lines be worried about the strong showing from Kelli Ward and her energetic Trumpian ideas that he suggested an additional candidate to further facture the vote and cause confusion? Ward's amazing experience gained after two Senatorial campaigns is something no other AZGOP candidate can match. Why do we throw candidates away after they lose a race? Kelli said today at the Pima GOP candidate forum attended with only Lines, that our party should tap that resource and unite behind lessons learned. Ward is purified in the fire and will serve the party well as AZGOP Chairman.

I have no negatives after reviewing the links of Mr. Shamley. Thank you to him for running. My vote goes to Kelli Ward.
