Its surprising how much you can accomplish if you don't care who gets the credit
What next for Chairman Kelli Ward? Here is what we would like to see:
A good CEO knows how to delegate and then let that person do their job. This is critical to success! We all must realize the McCain Machine is still in tact and will not give up easily. It will take a good team of battled-experienced people to keep up with the many ways the machine will undercut the new chairman.
Immediately, find the very best knowledgeable, conservative and hire that person as Executive Director. What are the credentials that person would possess? Street smarts! Knowledge of politics and politicians. Messaging skills. PR capability. Good at vetting and hiring staff, both paid and volunteer, that are capable and loyal. Fearlessness. People skills. Comfortable with those in high positions. Fundraising techniques. An active BS meter. Able to keep tabs on what is happening in the legislature and the governor's office. For starters. Then let the ED hire needed staff. Bring volunteers in to do some of the work staff has been doing. Give the PCs ownership of their own party for a change.
Get a professional spokesperson. Ward is known to misspeak and then make all the headlines in a negative way. If AZGOP is going to recover from six years of Graham and Lines and 30 years of McCain, they cannot afford more bad press. Just because you wear the title of Chairman doesn't mean you are aware of the many ways the media will spin your words. This is the wrong time to speak from the hip! Political words are like bubble gum: they get chewed up, blown out of proportion and spit out.
Put together a committee of grassroots activists to handle PC recruiting. Committees should be made up of those with a track record of recruiting. Assign committee chairmen to cover specific areas of Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties. Train local PCs in rural areas. The goal is to fill PC seats with conservatives and get the McCain machine out of the PC purging business. Entire districts that had been conservative for years are now establishment. Identify and attack those districts.
Find the best GOTV software that is also easy for neophytes to use. This will be critical in 2020 when the rank and file PCs will be called to get our Republicans elected. And President Trump. Nothing substitutes for GOOD GOTV software that empowers PCs to use this software. The time to start working neighborhoods is yesterday.
Get creative with fundraising. Rumor has it that some sore losers are set on working against Ward with the RNC and major donors. Ward deserves a chance to perform without more chaos. She must get in that game ASAP to neutralize this effort. It's puzzling that Republicans want AZ to fail to elect Republican candidates! If you can't help, get out of the way. And maybe the party. Some have already said they would do that. Excellent start.
Be a team player. This is NOT about who is Chair so much as it is about how the Chair will welcome the disaffected back into the AZGOP office. In many ways, Ward is caught between the devil and the deep red sea. She has to find a way to span that chasm. Everything hinges on it.
Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. Not like Lines communicated about irrelevant stuff most already knew. Communicate what the AZGOP is really doing to win over voters in 2020 and PCs between now and then. Example: We have an agressive recruitment going on. Come to our briefing on XX date and time to learn about it. Public details not needed. Encourage PCs to volunteer where needed. We are tired of the secrets and bad behavior. Let's put bad behavior out to pasture along with those who express it.
Get creative with awards at the Chairman's dinner. The list of those awarded trophies for performance this past year is ridiculous. It was like rewarding chairmen, districts and individuals for failure. Pathetic and embarrassing. The AZGOP has embarrassed themselves for years. Time to hang it up on that.
Keep her husband under control and away from AZGOP. He's a loose cannon, too often. Not to everyone, but to anyone is too much.
This would certainly be a good start that we have not seen in years. I hope she takes some good advice.
All are excellent points !! We must remain on the offensive and not sit back to allow the evil empire of negativity to stomp all over the success of the Trump and Ward administrations. We must attack the "minds of mush" of ignorance within the young so that we can teach them why Capitalism is better than the sugar daddy of the socialist collectivism coming for us all. Use the Boy Scout motto ... BE PREPARED.
John 5319, I would suggest we abandon the term "capitalism." While Marx did not originate the word, it began to be widely used after publication of his Das Kapital. Preferable phrases would be free markets or perhaps free economy, free enterprise or even free society. "Capitalism" has become a pejorative of the left and we should replace it with something employing the word "free." Nomenclature is everything when battling the left.
Sadly you don't understand why Capitalism exists ... the Freedom and Liberty to act in one's own self-interest. Just a few points by Vladimir Lenin to know the facts:
- “Despair is typical of those who do not understand the causes of evil, see no way out, and are incapable of struggle.”
- “A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”
You are so right, John5319. The left keeps re-defining words so they suddenly mean something different than they mean. We must be vigilant to guard against being sucked into that vortex. Maybe Vaquero could just say Free Capitalism since he/she likes the word free. I like that word too.
Oh, but I do understand why "capitalism" exists. You have missed my perhaps obtuse point: the left has coopted the word and we need a term without the baggage they have attached to the word.
Inherent in the use of capitalism is Marx's arguments of capital versus labor, thereby playing into the hand of the collectivist left.
Polling data showing people preferring socialism over capitalism is illustrative of the problem. Were socialism paired against a term such as free markets, free economy, or free society, which do you think might then have polled better?
I get your point Vaquero however we must I think not allow the DemSoc's to drive what terms we use.
My motto is to show my pride of being who I am and I will not succumb to intimidation for whatever chaos they have up their sleeve or be told because of the color of my skin (white) that I am racist so shut up and will tell you what you are. Being a very proud Appalachian born woman I do not internalize their hate remarks. I refuse to be a victim of the DemSoc's.
I hold my head high --
Like our President said call the border wall what you want but the wall extensions and needed structural fixes will be done. Change a term to a feel good but to me capitalism (with its lots of good and some bad) always will be labeled capitalism.
I was reminded by John Jay in the American Post Gazette article of this,
"The great General George Washington said: “If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments for our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War.”"
Trump's State of The Union address ... made the choice very clear for all to hear and see .... America will not be a socialist nation, nor one of the world collectivist nations that breathes by polls, and confiscation of wealth. As those DemoncRats sat on their hands through out the speech, even when he was praising our Military and veterans, is all we need to know just where the upcoming battles for Liberty and Freedom are. They are in the minds of the mostly under 35 yr. olds minds of mush like AOC.
This is not a minefield for patriots to worry about for it is the USA, that we need to fight for without the politics of personal destruction. Remember Republicans were called out as the "deplorables" by DemoncRats .... that is their game of hate, their reality of discrimination against Liberty.
Furthermore these "polls" are mostly questionable. I've received many of them. I go into them with an open mind but find out that there is an agenda and it's not learning a real reasons of the individual, they are manipulations by the words in a question. Many of them are worded with a presumed result by they multiple choice answers they give you. If they don't have an answer of how you feel .... you are forced to answer with THEIR answer. Other factors are the times they call. You have to look deeper into the "internals of the polls" themselves ... the actual question asked, what the words are and only then can you figure out if they are a "good" objective poll".
Honestly can't we even recognize that nothing in this life is "free". Markets and the demands they make comes at high cost. Therefore "free markets" not really, the best of late is our Presidents use of 'reciprocal'. Even the use of 'fair trade' I always ask fair to whom and in fair to whom that presents a lot of choosing winners and losers and awards a lot of wiggle room according to an administrations ideology.
Use of terms such as equality, liberty and freedom are concepts of aspirations. Lot of personal responsibility threads through those terms.
Should we change semantics to satisfy the left? I want.
How would you define "capitalism?" What is the meaning of the word "capital" from which the word derives?
A market economy is a better description of what we should have--but unfortunately have lost--in this nation. A free market simply denotes a lack of government involvement in the market place.
We are already a socialist nation and "globalism" and a "global economy" are euphemisms for socialism. Dwayne Andreas, late chairman of Archer Daniels Midland, observed back in 1995 that there
"isn’t one grain of anything in the world that is sold in a free market. Not one! The only place you see a free market is in the speeches of politicians. People who are not in the Midwest do not understand that this is a socialist country."
I produce a commodity--cattle--that trades globally. I'm no admirer of Andreas but he was absolutely correct. Capitalism is a poor word to communicate the type of economic system to which we aspire.
The old term, "laissez faire" is what one would wish could again apply today. "Capitalism" does not incapsulate that notion but the term "free market" does.
There is not a single segment of our economy which does not feel the heavy hand of government, not one.
Patricia, not sure you understand the concept of free markets. It has nothing to do with giving someone something free by taking from someone else. Here is a definition: In economics, a free market is a system in which the prices for goods and services are determined by the open market and by consumers. In a free market the laws and forces of supply and demand are free from any intervention by a government, or by other authority.
So consumers can decide how to do business, who to do it with or not to do it at all. Sellers can decide for themselves whether to do business with anyone.
