HB2179 - new school facilities; additional funding

House Appropriations

02/22/2021

UDALL - Adds to the new school facilities statute, subsections R and S which look too much like blank checks for contractors.

N

HB2282 - small business assistance grants

House Appropriations

02/22/2021

LIEBERMAN – Grants taxpayer money in the amount of $5,000 to some small businesses that closed because of COVID. This measure is a joke, and not a funny one at that. The governor’s executive order causes business to close. Now the government comes to the rescue with $5,000 of your money. How long will that money last? How about lifting the oppressive edict instead?

?

HB2489 - appropriation; affordable housing

House Appropriations

02/22/2021

CHAVEZ - The sum of $25,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2021-2022 to the housing trust fund. This is in addition to any other funding in the budget.

This trust fund was sold to the voters as being self sustaining, but we keep on pouring tax payer money into it, this time $25 million.

N

HCR2037 - pandemic emergencies; special sessions

House Appropriations

02/22/2021

KAVANAGH - Adds a constitutional provision relating to special sessions of the Legislature during a state of emergency related to a pandemic.

Supports the establishment of a balance of power between the executive and the legislative branches

Y

HB2098 - missing children; mandatory reporting

House Third Reading

All Representatives

02/22/2021

JERMAINE -
Requires a law enforcement agency to submit a report of a missing child to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Y

02/22/2021

TOWNSEND - Requires election official to inform voter that overvote will result in the vote for that office to be not counted

Y

SB1105 - ballot measures; 200-word description

Senate COW

All Senators

02/22/2021

MESNARD - For ballot measures, it Increases the limit of words in the description from 100 to 200.

Makes it easier to fully describe the purpose of ballot measures

Y

SB1248 - electronic communications; social media post

Senate COW

All Senators

02/22/2021

PETERSEN -   Adds a social media post to the definition of electronic communication as it pertains to the criminal offense of using electronic communication to terrify, intimidate, threaten or harass.

Y

SB1377 - civil liability; public health pandemic

Senate COW

All Senators

02/22/2021

LEACH - Establishes, retroactive to March 11, 2020, civil liability standards for specified acts or omissions during a state of emergency for a public health pandemic.

Y

SCR1009 - abortion data; survivors act; supporting

Senate COW

All Senators

02/22/2021

KERR - Supports the enactment of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Ensuring Accurate and Complete Abortion Data Reporting Act of 2019.

No power of law, just an advisory statement

Y

SCR1020 - English language education; requirements...

Senate Third Reading

All Senators

02/22/2021

SHOPE - Subject to voter approval, statutorily repeals the requirement that all Arizona public school students be taught in English and the requirement that children who are English language learners (ELLs) be taught using structured English immersion (SEI). Requires each public school to ensure ELLs receive high quality education and programing, and master the English language.

This measure is aimed at reversing Prop 203, approved by voters in 2000. It is probably the worst crime that can be perpetrated against a non-English speaking student trying to learn English. Supporters of this bill have no clue as to what it takes to learn a foreign language in a foreign land, or else don’t give a damn about helping English learners.

N

SB1103 - lieutenant governor; duties; ballot

Senate Appropriations

02/23/2021

MESNARD - A candidate for governor shall submit to the secretary of state the name of the person who will be the joint candidate for lieutenant governor

The LT. Gov. will be in charge of the Department of Administration

Will take effect only if HCR2020 is approved by voters

Y

SB1468 - DPS; pension liability; supplemental appropriation

Senate Appropriations

02/23/2021

LIBERMAN - Appropriates $300 million from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2021 to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) to be deposited in the employer account of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) PSPRS Group to reduce the unfunded accrued liability.

Why is it that we, the tax payers, always get stuck with bailing out these irresponsible and mismanaged defined benefit government retirement programs?

?

SB1485 - elections; voting center tabulation

Senate Appropriations

02/23/2021

UGENTI-RITA - Requires that votes cast at voting centers be tabulated at that site. This will help combat fraud.

Y

SB1593 - early voting; time limits; envelope

Senate Appropriations

02/23/2021

GOWAN - Mail in envelopes must provide a second internal envelope that bears the ballot affidavit and that is designed to contain the voted ballot and be placed inside the ballot return envelope.

If SB1713 passes, this would be necessary to retain voter privacy

Y

SCR1006 - military personnel; technical correction

Senate Appropriations

02/23/2021

GOWAN - The legislature shall hold a special session at the state capitol commencing on the Monday following the date designated for the election of the president and vice president of the united states.  The purpose of the special session is to review or investigate the results of the election in this state, as needed, before certifying the results of the selection of presidential electors.  The legislature has sole authority to appoint the presidential electors who will cast this state's votes in the electoral college and shall exercise that authority without interference and consistent with article ii, section 1 of the constitution of the united states.  The speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate shall jointly certify to the governor the names of the appointed presidential electors, and the governor shall submit those names to the president of the united states senate.

Aimed at restoring confidence in the electoral system

Anyone seen the Mike Lindell video Absolute Truth? Mike exposes a LOT of the fraud that gave China Joe Bogus Biden the win.

Yes, it was excellent.  And yet the media continues pushing the narrative that the 2020 election was fair and above board.  So far, the GOP seems to have little interest in addressing this regarding future elections.  That is very upsetting.  I am fully ready for a new political party for conservatives--as are a lot of other folks, it seems.
