Governors of  35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful  burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a  Constitutional Convention. 
  
For too long  we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Their latest stunt  is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that they passed ... in all  of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite ruling  class that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat,  Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must  stop. 
If each  person that receives this will forward it on to 15 people, in three days, most  people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one  proposal that really should be passed  around. 
  
Proposed 28th  Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that  applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the  Senators, President of the United States, their employees, Representatives of  Congress; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or  Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States  ......."

Why don't just say "Let's apply the Laws We have"

The U.S. Constitution should not be amended for any reason before repealing Amendments 14, 16 and 17.

And just who do you propose is going to repeal all those amendments, Marc... Congress? Don't make me laugh. That's the whole point of a Convention of States, to take up the reigns of responsibility that Congress has dropped. Think logically, and try something other than posting Fiedler's old, dusty, fear-mongering misinformation à la John Birch Society... that's so yesterday!

Could it be some jury trial, or a state that actually starts to Nullify things? I don't know.

John Birch Society - they are for America - that is more that POTUS can say. JBS has done a lot more to keep America on course than you can imagine.

Marc... again, I'll have to ask you to think logically... please. How can a constitution be unconstitutional? When you begin your reasoning on such a weak foundation, the rest of your argument crumbles.

And we're not talking about what the JBS has done in the past... we're talking about them standing in the way of the future.

You ask the question: How to accomplish the items that you laid out... could it be done by adjudication or nullification? Then you say you don't know. At leat that's honest. We do know, Marc... the Founding Fathers, the Framers of the Constitution gave us the answer in Article V. All we have to do is read it.

A Convention of States can effect the needed change where Congress has failed or refused to act. Article V of our Constitution could not be more clear... not only do the legislatures of the several states have the authority to propose constitutional amendments, an argument can and should be made that they have the RESPONSIBILITY to do so when Congress fails.

Michael. Yes, that may be so, but my piling on comment is right on the button. I know that you know that there are many of the amendments past the 10th are hurting our "Prospects For Liberty" more than helping. They were put in place to help the left agenda. Removing them has to be a part of our actions in the future.

That's not why we're ignoring the JBS, Marc... it's because their position is to advance the same fear-based arguments that they've been using since the 80's. The new movement for a Convention of States has been completely re-tooled to answer any and all issues that the JBS rightly had with the process, but they either refuse to acknowledge the new paradigm or are incapable of comprehending it. They are simply not on board.

As for your point that there are amendments to the constitution that need to be changed, I agree. 100%. That's what we're talking about, Marc... so maybe you, too, should get on board.

Don't let fear or ego get in the way of logical thought... you and I agree that these issues need to be addressed... the only real question seems to be whether or not Article V provides for just such a remedy.

Your point? The IRS is a legislated bureaucracy of the executive, not a constitutionally enumerated power.

And you still haven't responded to my question... my ONLY question to you: Does not Article V provide for a remedy of the very issues that we agree on?

Again the facts need to accurate and the convention of states can propose amendments that repeal of existing amendments.  The conventionofstates.com web site has accurate information in rebuttal of the John Birch Society false statements.

We need to keep our facts correct.  It takes 34 or more states to call for an Article V Convention of States.  Then any proposed amendments require 38 or more states voting yes to ratify.

Congress exempting themselves from laws is one of the most serious corruption actions.  There are many good ideas for new amendments and you should look into the conventionofstates.com web site for accurate information.
