Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint has officially joined the Convention of States Project as a Senior Advisor!

For nearly two decades, DeMint made a name for himself in Washington fighting for freedom, limited government and fiscal responsibility. Now he will continue to do so by traveling the country raising awareness about the only solution as big as the problem in D.C.

“I tried to rein in Washington from the House and Senate, but once I realized that Washington will never willingly return decision-making power back to the American people and the states, I began to search for another way to restrain the federal government,” said DeMint. “I am excited to get outside the beltway and work with the grassroots of the Convention of States Project to continue the fight I started almost two decades ago.”

Twelve states have passed the Convention of States resolution calling for fiscal restraint, limiting the size, scope and jurisdiction of the federal government, and term limits on federal officials, such as judges.

Momentum continues to build as constitutional thought leaders, statesmen and experts urge citizens and state legislators to use this constitutional tool before it is too late.

Our list of endorsers include Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, American economist Thomas Sowell, Sheriff David Clarke, Lt. Bill Cowan, historian David Barton, Ben Carson, M.D., Ken Cuccinelli, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Ron Johnson, retired U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, retired U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan, former Gov. Jeb Bush, former Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Gov. Sarah Palin, Gov. John Kasich, former Gov. Bobby Jindal, Gov. Greg Abbot, and Col. Allen West.

The fact that Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and John Kasich are on board with this should give you pause to think. What is it they are really going to do with this "Convention of the States" if it is actually gotten under way???? Just like when the Constitution was written. The people there had authority to fix some problems with the "Articles of Confederation" and they threw that away and started over.  We were very fortunate that they did, but I can't think of any of the above named nor anyone currently in government as constituted today that I would trust to do the same. The so called swamp is deeper and nastier than it has ever been, it is closer to a septic tank than a swamp, we can't even count on those we have elected, in the Republican Party, to do what they have promised in the past. With the exception of President Trump and a small handful of Congressmen and Senators they have mostly lied to our faces time after time, in their promises, and they are and will be the ones in charge of most of what goes on behind the doors we will not pass through ourselves to determine the outcome of this Convention.

VERY well said. That is why at the present time I WILL NOT support this opening of this can of worms that could destroy our liberty and put us into the hands of a group of "principles" who would re-write our cherished Constitution. We have an immigration law already, but Washington refuses to enforce it and proclaim it, so then we need "comprehensive reform" of it?? This swamp needs to be drained, and people constrained by existing laws passed, not "new ideas" that would lead us to a "new order" that would destroy the old ... by a political correctness frothing around us.   We the People cannot take that chance at the casino table! MY Constitution does NOT need to "Be a part of history in the making" when we already have one ... by corruption, political correctness, and violence against conservatism.

I agree, none of them follow the Constitution that is already written.

Would you trust Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John Kasich to help restraining the federal government?

Once such a Convention is convened, ANYTHING can happen, including further destruction of the already dreadfully wounded Constitution.

@Eric   I find it hard to trust my closest friend let alone anyone in Congress but I do trust facts.  I see it all the time, the failure to understand the difference between the Convention of States and a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con). Different animal, different rules and format. At CoS as I understand it, only one pre-agreed upon question can be addressed.  Oh, everyone says, do you trust them to stick to that rule? Well, they are subverting the Constitution every day and sticking to no rules.  So how is this any different.  We the people are supposed to be in charge but most of we the people snooze right along.  For me, I'm split on this issue.  It may be too late for Article V but on the other hand maybe it's for times like these the Article V was put in.  One JBS person said they just threw Art. V in there but I think that is a specious argument. I doubt the Founders "just threw" anything in the Constitution since they carefully thought out every word for what, 13 years?  They would not have been careless enough to just throw in Art V.

A thoughtful post, Pat.  Thank you.  But I do wonder about some of the names included there and just what they might plan.

I agree with John. Among those listed are several snakes in the grass. A Convention of States could put the nail in our Constitution's coffin. Several of those named have been in a position to try to get the most important issues addressed and didn't mention them; namely getting out of the U.N., bringing monetary policy into compliance with the Constitution and repudiating the ungodly, unconstitutional, and un payable debt we have theoretically amassed as a result of the current policy. These issues must be corrected if America is to be in control of its own destiny and in a position to "Make America Great Again." And in addition to addressing these issues the traitorous criminal responsible for them and/or their perpetuation should also be given their day in court!
