John Huppenthal wants to ban Ethnic Studies, but then his office sends out this memo today for his new “Teaching Diversity in American History Project” that aims to:
Raise the level of student awareness and understanding of the contributions, past and present, by ethnically diverse individuals and groups to the history and culture of the United States.

Furthermore, in the hiring of teachers, the ethnicity of the teacher will be considered, going against Tom Horne’s repeated refrain about Tucson’s Chicano Studies program.

The right-wing inconsistencies and hypocrisy are mind-boggling!

Fight the indoctrination of our youth!

Early next year our “sister” organization, ACT! for America Education, will release a comprehensive report on how public school textbooks are indoctrinating our youth with falsehoods about the history and doctrines of Islam.

Above are just three examples of these falsehoods.  Notice the faulty narrative that is being taught to our children—that Islam has historically been tolerant and that its doctrines preach equality. 

How faulty is this narrative?  Here’s one example: Surah 4:34 in the Qur’an sanctions the right of husbands to beat their wives.  So much for “social equality.”

Arizona awarded more than $25 million in "Race to the Top"

 

Dec. 23, 2011

There is a new round of financial help for Arizona schools. Arizona has won just over $25 million in federal "Race to the Top" money to improve K-12 education programs.

The Education Department announced this week that Arizona is among seven states sharing $200 million awarded by the Obama administration to encourage changes in education that it favors.

The seven states competing in this round were all runners-up last year. Illinois was awarded the most money, this time around, with more than $42 million.

John Huppenthal Statement on Ruling that TUSD’s Mexican American Studies Program Violates Arizona Law

 

Phoenix, AZ, December 27, 2011– Today, Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal released the following statement on the decision of Administrative Law Judge Lewis Kowal that affirmed the Tucson Unified School District’s (TUSD’s) Mexican American Studies Program was in violation of A.R.S. § 15-112 as per his ruling from June 15, 2011:

“I was very pleased to receive Judge Kowal’s decision today affirming the ruling that I made on June 15 that TUSD’s Mexican American Studies Program was in violation of A.R.S. § 15-112.

Went to my first PV Gov. body meeting tonight!! the just could not say enough about how we should be indebted to the efforts of all who worked for the passage of Prop 204---especially a Ms Bacon's efforts as state wide grass roots coordinator.  She assured everyone that this would not go away that it was the start of a movement.

This is the start of getting active in PV.  We will be trying to find some others to join John and I in the USD!!!!

Every school district is controlled by union backed elected members of governing boards.  This should be a priority for every conservative activist.  This is where the rubber meets the road.
