[Editor: The CD8 race is getting  down and dirty. With a dozen candidates in that race for a potential five month job before standing for election again. It's fierce out there because the winner can claim incumbency. That is a big deal!

Denise Reilly accused former Graham County Sheriff Richard Mack of hiding behind women and kids at the Bundy ranch standoff. Those of you who were on this site when this was occurring know we watched endless videos from start to finish and spoke with some who were there. We find this response from Mack to be entirely in line with our research. Women WERE there milling around with the Bundy's and in the crowd.  None were shoved out in front of the men but some did go out front on their own.  Women can take a lead on these issues as well as the men and there is no reason they should not lead a group if they so choose.]

Richard Mack responds to Denise Reilly’s false accusations that he ordered innocent civilians in harm’s way during the standoff with Federal agents with the Bundy family in 2014: "Let me make it perfectly clear that putting the women at the front was never planned by anyone. Not at any time did the Bundy family, the CSPOA or any of the Oath Keepers make any suggestion to use women as shields or to put them in front, and children were never mentioned at all. I did not even see any children at the scene, yet many of the commentaries on my statements say that I said to ‘put the women and children at the front’.

“I was proud to lead a delegation of Arizona state legislators – whose participation expenses were personally paid for by me – to bring a halt to any assault by Federal law enforcement on these innocent civilians. Those actions have since been validated by a US District Court judge who dismissed all charges against the Bundy family. During the trial the judge ruled that government lawyers suppressed key evidence that would have been favorable to the defendants’ case — including suppression of evidence from FBI surveillance cameras recording the Bundy family home and the presence of federal snipers around the property ahead of the standoff, among other omissions. As the only candidate in this race who has defended the Constitution against government overreach and won a US Supreme Court lawsuit against the President of the United States, I reject any assertion that as a former member of law enforcement that I would ever endanger the lives of my fellow citizens for any reason.”

Mack is a nationally known conservative who won a US Supreme Court case against President Clinton over the Brady Gun Bill. Since that landmark Supreme Court ruling Mack has written six books and appeared at over 120 conservative political rallies nationwide. He has stood against the incursions of the Federal Government and has fought for civil rights from Hawaii to Bangor, Maine. He is the Founder and President of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) and is in the NRA Hall of Fame.

Drain the swamp

I would be more inclined to believe in the honesty of  Sheriff Mack than in the other  persons!

DR is a liar, plain and simple.  I've seen Shrf. Mack in action and his integrity is beyond reproach.
