Convention of the States

This group is for discussion of the Convention of the States, Article V of the Constitution, advanced in the Mark Levin book, The Liberty Amendment.

Recommended reading, but not easy reading.  This concept is very thoughtfully presented and it makes clear that it is up to we, the people, to bring America back to her founding principles.  This is a good way to get that under way.

Citizens for Self Governance

YOU can help in forming a Convention of States

Ultimately, the success of the Article V depends on the citizens of the United States.  Volunteers will be the engine that drives this project.  If Americans are willing to sacrifice their time and energy, there is still time to halt the tyrannical abuses of the federal government.

Interested individuals are encouraged to join our growing grassroots movement by signing up on the Take Action page. There, individuals can pledge to contact their legislators and will be notified when important volunteer opportunities arise. These opportunities include:

  1. Volunteering to contact your legislators to support a Convention of the States

  2. Volunteering to attend a legislative hearing to support a Convention of the States

  3. Agreeing to volunteer for the next campaign for a legislator/candidate who supports a Convention of the States

  4. Donating to candidates/legislators who support a Convention of the States

  5. Donating to CSG to support this project

This is a very necessary convention.  Our federal government has been co-opted into an obressive, overbearing and over spending tyrant.  We are not at the point of tyranny.  But we the citizens have the duty to take this country back towards the original founder fathers vision of a republic.

Helpful Interviews and Articles

Liberty Amendment Team,

Suggestions as you read the book:

Go to Levin's FB or Amazon site or his Radio Show site and download interviews with him where he explains the amendments.

Go to the link below and download Andrew McCarthy's article summarizing the book's main points.  (By the way, if you save as a WORD or PDF file you can circulate and post for others to read.)

Hope this helps,

Bob B

Thank you for starting this page.  I think we can do this if we put our minds to it.  And we'd better if we want to save the USA.  And thanks for those who have knowledge and articles so we can learn what to do.

As always, here we are, divided again.  It's no secret that the John Birch Society is and has always been opposed to addressing anything that has to do with a Con-Con as they call it.  I am still studying to see if there is a difference with a Convention of States.  I watched the interview of Mark Levin on the Hannity Show and have heard him interviewed him on other shows and in articles.  He's a smart guy and it seems he has spent a lot of time thinking this through, not just from a JBS point of view but from a fresh view of what is allowed in the Constitution.  I think this ideas bears a complete understanding.  Levin was clear that any such Convention would have clear rules going in and would address only one issue and would not be opened up to a bucket of other amendments.  Whether that is reasonable to expect or not I have no idea.  But as i said, he's a smart man and has a big research department and I believe is also an attorney.  I hope this doesn't get shut down out of the gate by people with a preconceived perception or not enough information about what exactly is being proposed.  WE must do something bold because taking the timid approach has not worked and Republicans and especially conservatives have  been trampled and so has the Constitution under the leadership of the last few presidents.  This president just doesn't seem to mind and doesn't try to hide it because he knows Republicans have no stomach for a fight.

Jan- I am still reading, learning.  I think the concern is that even if the state's go in with the 'best of intentions' there are those who will change the rules in mid-stream.  that being said I believe bold is a must...timid doesn't work...we R losing the constitution right now...if are not bold it will be gone as soon as BHO has one more vacancy on the Supremes, or simply by EO.

I'm well into The Liberty Amendments and I see nothing that makes me think this is not a well thought out plan based on law and what is provided by law.  I talk to people who say "no, no.  We can't have a Constitutional Convention" but this is not a Constitutional Convention and it's not like the Convention of States.  People need to learn the difference before making a declaration that this will never work.  I'm willing to try anything, what do we have to lose?  Our country?  Too late for that  unless we do something big.

Just read the article Joanne posted (on our TEA site) and see the inherent problems.  I have ordered the book and will read also.  Since politicians do not follow the will of the voters - Look at McCain and Flake - and do not represent the State; and many in congress do not represent voters (only after GREAT Boehner going to defund obamacare-but may still cave on the backside) we cannot trust any of them.
