The following letter was sent to Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. Personally I have had enough and I must establish battle lines. Please join me and your comments are always welcomed both negative and positive.

Chairman Tom Morrissey

It was really getting old hearing those attacks from the liberals against the tea party movement and it‘s citizens. It’s been going on since 2009 and all we have done is turn our cheek and ignore their remarks.

Along comes the 2010 election cycle and we start getting snippets about the tea party from some members of the GOP who were either were not nominated or were attacking candidates that were nominated through the support of local tea party groups. A majority of those attacks ended when the elections were over and the GOP won the House and rose to 47 GOP seats in the Senate.

Then along comes this Federal Budget crisis which was created many years ago. The tea party supported and helped elect many members to the U.S. Congress because of their campaign commitment and promise that they would not support a raise in the debt and would work for a balanced federal budget. The debt and spending crisis has been the number one topic of the tea party cause since day one.

Now we see that these tea party-backed members of Congress are under fire within their own party because they held to their commitment to their voters. (What a novel idea!) But we are adults and we can get by with this debate within the Republican Party because we have trust and faith in our tea party principled representatives.

Yet to see Senator John McCain, reading from a Wall Street Journal article on the Senate floor, referring to me and members of the movement as “Tea Party Hobbits” was absolutely uncalled for and it sounded just like his Liberal “friends” from across the aisle. This was just a direct slap at the 87 Republicans elected to the House and seven to the Senate with tea party support in the last election.

Now we see the attacks continue with Senator Jon Kyl using the same talking points as McCain by his own attack on the tea party movement during an interview on Fox News. These two have given Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the major media so much ammunition to further attack on the tea party movement; they have enough to fill an armory for years.

Enough is enough and I must draw the battle lines! As a Board member of the Yavapai Tea Party I will encourage the other members of our Board to advise our membership that we will no longer tolerate this kind of behavior. As for now, we will not encourage support, donations or other assistance to any individuals promoted or endorsed by Senators McCain or Kyl. Furthermore we will encourage our members to write personal letters requesting that Senator McCain and Kyl resign immediately.

As a Delegate to the Northern Arizona Tea Party Coalition, consisting of ten Tea Party Groups I will encourage a similar resolution and action.

I am also a voting member of Arizona Freedom Alliance, an umbrella group of over thirty independent and engaged tea parties across the state. I will submit the same request to these groups as well.
